Hello everyone! I can’t believe this is my first blog post since 2014! A lot of things have changed, and I thought I would do a “Get to Know Me” tag to give everyone a little bit of information about me and what I’m all about. I hope you enjoy this tag and let me know some of your answers to these questions in the comments below! 🙂
1. Are you named after someone?
My middle name is after one of my great grandmothers, but Drew just happened to be the only name my parents could agree on. I was born 5 1/2 weeks early–surprise!–and my parents weren’t exactly ready for my arrival.
2. What is your favorite restaurant?
I really love all types of food–Indian, Tex-Mex, Greek, Vietnamese, Italian–it’s hard to pick one! My all time favorite restaurants that I eat at regularly in Austin would have to be Pho Saigon for great pho, Swad for dosas, and Chuys of course for the best Tex-Mex.
3. Can you cook?
Yes! Almost all of the women in my family are great cooks, and I first started in the kitchen at the age of 8. My grandma on my dad’s side is Czech and she even has her own special kolache recipe! Everything I made at first was absolutely awful, but I learned quickly to start by following a recipe. Now, I only use a recipe if I’m baking or making something new.
4. What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?
The last movie I went to see was Captain America: Civil War. I liked it a lot–even though I didn’t realize it would be so sad.
5. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
It all depends, sometimes I like early mornings and sometimes I’d rather stay up late!
6. Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
I’d love to visit the Louvre in Paris or go to the beaches in Santorini. I’m hopeful to go backpacking through Europe sometime in the future!
7. How many siblings do you have?
I have a sister named Leigh who is about to be a Junior in college studying biomedical engineering and neuroscience!
8. Favorite Disney movie?
Mulan and Hercules will always be two of my favorites!
9. What color are your eyes?
10. What is your college major?
I will have a B.S. in Applied Learning and Development at the end of August from UT. I started my freshman year in Studio Arts for Photography then ended up in Liberal Arts for a little bit before finding my home in Education. My major is a little confusing and can be summed up as a type of social science studying people in education. I volunteered in special education for a class one semester and liked it so much now I’m getting my masters in it! I’ll be working on my masters in Rehabilitation Counseling–helping people with disabilities make and reach their goals through counseling–this fall.
11. Favorite TV shows?
I’ve always watched a wide variety of shows, and so it’s hard to pick a favorite. I love BBC/international dramas which include Sherlock (of course), Call the Midwife, and Miss Fischer’s Murder Mysteries. I also really like the Office, Jane the Virgin, Pretty Little Liars (could it end already?!), and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Right now I’m watching Foyle’s War on Netflix, which is about a detective in England during WWII.
12. Summer or Winter?
I love both, but I’d have to say Fall is actually one of my favorite seasons 🙂 Even though we don’t have real seasons here in Texas, when I lived in Chicago it was amazing to watch all the leaves turn colors around downtown.
13. Use Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook! I just never have much to say on Twitter, and I’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to delete my twitter account on multiple occasions.
14. What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?
The farthest I’ve ever been away from home would have to be New York City when I went after my senior year of high school. The longest I’ve been away from Texas was when I lived in Chicago for my freshman year of college and went to the School of the Art Institute.
15. What’s one skill do you wish you could master?
I’ve always wanted to be able to do the splits–sadly I’m not very flexible and can barely touch my toes.
16. Where were you born?
17. Worst hair cut you’ve ever had?
I’ve never had a bad haircut I can remember, but I once got highlights and accidentally went blonde. Let’s just say it wasn’t a great look for me!
18. Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a fur baby named Thor that I found at Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Waco in May. He is a 50 pound, 7 month old puppy and is quite the handful. He gets into anything and everything, loves to play fetch, and cuddle on the couch. He’s a major goofball! I actually got his DNA done through Wisdom Panel because I was so tired of guessing at his breed. I’m going to do a review of the test in the near future and show y’all his interesting breed composition!
19. What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
Going to my grandparents farm has always been one of my favorite childhood memories. I always loved having picnics in the pastures and riding the four wheeler through the fields.
20. What did you want to be when you grow up?
When I was little I remember wanting to be a ballerina-cop, which is pretty ridiculous!
21. Favorite Holiday?
Christmas! I love the Christmas season and all the joy that comes with it. I start listening to Christmas music months before it is considered acceptable 🙂
22. What is your favorite cereal?
Honey Nut Cheerios! Now that they’re gluten free I can finally eat them since I gave up gluten around 11 months ago.
23. PC or Mac?
Mac of course! Photoshop just doesn’t run the same on a PC for me.
24. How tall are you?
25. Do you have any hobbies?
Photography, running, reading, hiking, and writing!
Thanks for reading and I hope you have an awesome day! 🙂
