It’s weird that I haven’t done a life update since June. I actually went back to make sure I didn’t repeat anything in this post and I’m surprised how much everything has changed–the majority of what I wrote then is completely irrelevant at this point in time.
To start where I left off, I am no longer in COLA or the College of Liberal Arts–I made a huge jump and transferred into the School of Education here at UT. One of the career paths I swore I’d never go into was education because after teaching swim lessons and Sunday school I just couldn’t see myself working with kids for that many hours everyday. But, after talking to two family friends with PhDs in Educational Psychology it just felt right to make the swap. I’m hoping to pursue a doctorate program after I graduate to work in some area of helping kids learn, but for right now I’m just enjoying having a major to call my own and not having to worry about what classes to take.
Along with changing my major, I rushed at the beginning of this semester. It’s something very few people probably expected me to do and was way outside of my comfort zone in general, but I’m so glad I went through. I landed in my mom’s chapter of Alpha Xi Delta here at UT and I love these girls so much. They are my new family and after transferring it’s nice to have somewhere to call home. I’ve had to actually dress up more than I usually do, but it’s been great to have things to do and girls who always have my back. AXiD is a pretty rad group and I couldn’t imagine life without them.

Being back in Texas has so many perks that I didn’t have when I was in Chicago. I have a car (the Silver Bullet rides on) which means I can actually go home whenever I want! Some college kids wouldn’t find this super exciting, but it means I have been able to run my business from my hometown and see all my favorite clients. I get to cuddle with my puppies and even sleep in my own bed which are two of my favorite things in the world.

There are still a lot of things I miss about living in Chicago–being less than a floor away from my best friend, having the best bakery down the street and running on Lake Michigan–but I love being back home. When I find myself missing a place 1000 miles away I count my blessings that I live in another amazing city, there’s no snow and my family is just a half hour drive.
I am the happiest I have ever been and I can’t believe how lucky I am that everything has been falling into place so nicely. All I have to be truly stressed about is studying for finals–and I’m praying constantly I make it out of Czech and Philosophy without losing all my marbles.
This is just a tiny bit of what has been going on, but if I write anymore my fingers will surely give out–I was editing photos for the past two and half hours before even getting to this post… 🙂 Look out for another post tomorrow and have a wonderful Tuesday!
